Using this handheld, portable microscope with a built-in screen, children can easily see their magnified images through this simple-to-use device, whether in the classroom, playground, or at home.
With up to 75x magnification on the 2" built-in screen, the microscope can simply focus on the object that you wish to magnify and display the image clearly on the screen. This microscope is wireless, but it can also be connected to a tablet via USB so children can take still images of their magnified object using the single control button on top of the microscope. This enables images to be shared with the rest of the class, as well as make the microscope an ideal tool for assessment. The Easi Scope is rechargeable via USB.
- Use the Easi Scope to explore different types of food. Look at fruit or vegetable snacks. Examine the skin or peel and then look at a sliced piece. What patterns or shapes can children find? Can they recognize different fruit or vegetables from captured images? Captured images could be turned into artwork by recoloring or creating repeating patterns.
- Provide a bag of familiar objects and choose children to pick one item at a time from the bag – try to keep the whole object hidden from the rest of the group. Give the Easi Scope to one child and ask them to hold it very close to the object. Can their group look at the screen and guess what the object is?
- Try investigating materials. Use the microscope to capture images from different types of fabrics. How do natural fibers compare to manufactured fibers? How do they differ and how are they the same?
