Hot-air balloons make great physics experiments – and now it’s easier than ever to succeed with this activity! This video leads students through the process of cutting and gluing the gores to construct their own Zoon Hot-Air Balloon. Next, they learn to inspect their balloons and keep them in top shape for launch. Finally, students do a test launch with an indoor launcher followed by the outdoor launch with a propane launcher.
The program also provides activities for analyzing balloon flight, understanding the physics of hot-air balloons, and varying balloon volume.
