Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between R/C, Programmable, and Dual-Control sets?

The R/C set focuses on mechanical engineering and wireless gamepad driving with no coding required. The Programmable set replaces the gamepad with a PRIZM controller for Arduino-based autonomous coding. The Dual-Control set includes both the gamepad and PRIZM controller so students can drive and code with the same robot.

Can we upgrade to programmable later?

Yes. The TETRIX MAX system is modular. Purchase a PRIZM Pro Controller (93146) separately and add it to your existing R/C frame to unlock autonomous programming and sensor integration without replacing any hardware.

Do students need coding experience?

No. The R/C set is entirely remote-controlled via wireless gamepad. Students build robots and drive them—no coding, no software setup, no programming environment. It is the ideal entry point for programs new to robotics.

How many students can work with one set?

Two to four students work optimally with one set, with defined roles in design, assembly, testing, and driving. For full-class deployment, the R/C Getting Started Package (41944) includes six complete sets for up to twenty-four students.

What curriculum is available?

The builder's guide is included for assembly instruction. The TETRIX MAX Engineering Mobile Robotics Curriculum Pack (59793) adds 35 hours of structured lessons with teacher's guides, answer keys, and assessment rubrics.

How durable is the aluminum construction?

Aircraft-grade aluminum provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and resists wear across years of classroom use. Unlike plastic kits, TETRIX MAX components maintain precision fit and structural integrity through repeated assembly and disassembly cycles.
