From Controller to Code

Echo is a flight-first, code-second drone system built for classrooms. Students begin with hands-on piloting using the R/C controller, mastering orientation, speed control, and obstacle navigation. When they are ready, they transition to the browser-based Echo app to program autonomous flight missions, capture aerial images, and write block-based or JavaScript code.

From First Flight to First Line of Code

Echo meets students where they are and takes them further than they expect.

Day one: students pick up the controller, learn orientation, and fly. Three speed settings let beginners build confidence before progressing to faster, more complex maneuvers. Takeoff, landing, hovering, obstacle navigation—every skill is practiced through real flight.

Then the coding begins.

Using the browser-based Echo app, students transition from manual piloting to programming autonomous missions. They write block-based code or JavaScript to command Echo through flight paths, execute mission challenges, and capture aerial images and video through the onboard 720p camera.

The progression is built in:
Manual flight → Assisted programming → Autonomous coded missions

No downloads. No installations. No student accounts. No data collected.

App not required for flight. Students fly from the moment they open the box.

From First Flight to First Line of Code

100% Web-Based App

The browser-based Echo app is our recommended option for coding the Echo. Visit echo.pitsco.com for the most ideal coding experience. This app is 100% web-based and requires no downloads or software installation; no account creation is needed, and no student data is collected. The app automatically saves students’ progress, and, through a unique code system, students can easily pick up where they left off. Using the Echo app, pilots can easily program their drone via block code or Javascript syntax and command Echo via Bluetooth connection.

For additional functionality not yet available in the Echo app, the Tspeed7 or AT-66BL apps are also available for download (please choose the app best fit for your device; see our Support Links). The smartphone apps enable you to utilize Scratch code and the drone’s onboard camera, which transmits images and video to your smartphone via Wi-Fi.
