Parachuting has both a fun and a functional side. This guide pulls the rip cord of possibilities by showing you and your students how to build and test parachutes to learn about acceleration, speed, velocity, load, gravity, area, and a bundle of calculations.
The Parachutes Teacher’s Guide contains NSTA, NCTM, and ITEEA standards addressed; teacher and student instructions for a variety of math, science, and engineering activities; pretests and posttests; resource pages; and puzzles. Contains separate activities for middle school and high school students.
Equipment and materials needed to complete guide activities include the Pitsco Parachutes – Getting Started Package, digital scale, hooked mass set, stopwatch, tape measure (metric), scissors, binder clips, eggs, and standard classroom tools and materials. Note: This list is for all activities; individual activities don’t require all listed materials.
