A great jumping-off point for engineering curriculum, this guide introduces students to the key tenets of engineering. Measurements, formulas, design, problem-solving methods, data analysis and graphing, and other necessary skills and information are covered through contextual activities.
Student materials are reproducible for distribution in your classroom. Use this full-color guide alone or as a supplement, or combine it with other Pitsco guides to develop an engineering curriculum.
Equipment and materials needed to complete guide activities include the Forces & Simple Machines Kit, BoxStar Boxmaker, digital scale, Rolatape, tape measure, meterstick, balance beam, graduated cylinders, cups and beakers, calipers and rulers, rod and base (for lever), pivot with clamp, weight hangers, slotted weights, support rod with clamp, spring scale, pulleys, tandem pulleys, PVC pipes, dowels, card stock, modeling clay, and standard classroom tools and materials. Note: This list is for all activities; individual activities don’t require all listed materials.
