Watch sparks fly as dragsters and alternative energy finally meet!
The Shockwave Starter Package features a laser-cut racer powered by electricity rather than a CO2 cartridge, but it uses the same electronic race systems as CO2 dragsters.
After building the battery-powered cars, students can experiment with different gear ratios to find the one that provides optimum performance. When assembled, the two cars in this package are fitted with the Shockwave Control Modules, launched with the Shockwave Starting Blocks, and raced down the track.
Used in place of launch pods, the Starting Blocks shoot an infrared beam to each car’s Control Module to start the race. To use, plug the Starting Blocks into the jacks normally used for launch pods. The race system’s trigger device sends the infrared signal from the blocks.
The Shockwave Starter Package assembles everything needed to get racing: two Shockwave Electric Car Kits, two Control Modules, and a set of Starting Blocks. Requires a race system with launch pods. Assembly requires white glue, hobby knife or sandpaper, and screwdriver, sold separately.
