Construction requires soldering iron and solder, hobby knife, cool-melt gun and glue, needle-nose pliers, and a ruler, sold separately. Additional solar panels, if needed, may be purchased. See Related Products below.

Using energy from the Sun, engineers have built cars that use alternative fuel. In this competition, students design and engineer a solar car that travels down a 20-meter track in the least time possible!

Calculate the area of the solar panel and experiment to determine the relationship, if any, between the area of the panel and the vehicle’s velocity, by covering more rows of the panel for each test and recording the time and distance traveled.
