Culminating Group Activities (CGAs)

The learning experience in Phase I is enhanced by students’ engaging in Culminating Group Activities (CGAs). CGAs are team-based, whole class activities that serve to reinforce students’ understanding of each math concept delivered in Phase I. Each activity has been designed and written to provide students the opportunity to apply content and concepts learned in the IPLs to real-world activities. For example, the Recipe Adjustment CGA is designed to enhance understanding of fractions. Students apply what they’ve learned and use fractions to calculate the volume of ingredients required to create the desired number of servings. In this CGA, students use fractions in a real-world application and are then rewarded with a healthy snack for their efforts.
